2 Hour Early Release and Student Holiday

On Friday, March 5, students will be dismissed 2 hours earlier than their normal dismissal times.

Monday, March 8, is a student holiday and staff development day. There is no school for students on this day.

Herndon Elementary Return to School Schedules

Herndon Elementary school day bell times are 9:45 am - 4:15 pm. The lunch-family times for virtual students are 12:15 - 1:15 pm.

Health Screening Commitment Form Required for all In-Person Students

All parents/guardians who selected in-person instruction for their child will be required to complete and return to school a Parent/Guardian Health Screening Commitment form.

Herndon Elementary Weekly Meal Kits and In-Person School Menus

Herndon ES is a Weekly Meal Kit distribution site. We will hand out 7 day meal kits which include breakfast, lunch, snack and supper on WEDNESDAYS only, 10:00 am-12:30 pm. There will be NO daily meal service.

Herndon ES Mobile Library and Tech Support Schedules

ALERT: On Friday, March 5, tech support hours are 12-1:30pm.

HES library check out is on Wednesdays. HES Tech Support is Monday-Friday, 12-2pm. This does not include holidays.

Tech support hours will change on March 8.

2021-22 Kindergarten and New Student Registration

We're excited to welcome our newest Herndon ES Bees for next year! Looking for information about registering a new student with us? Begin the process!
A child may enter kindergarten for this coming school year if he or she turns five on or before September 30, 2021.

Return to School

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is partnering with families to ensure we keep students and staff safe and healthy as we return to school buildings for learning. Working together, we will follow recommended health guidance that focuses on student health, safety, and emotional well-being.

Kindergarten and Grade 1 Dual Language Immersion Lottery Registration is Open

Online registration for the lottery is open. Parents may register their child for the 2021-2022 school year using their FCPS SIS account credentials. Registration for Grade 1 will be open until February 18 at 4 p.m. Registration for Kindergarten will be open until March 11 at 4 p.m.

Annual English Language Proficiency Test

In Virginia, all divisions use the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs to monitor students' progress in acquiring academic English. This test is administered to all students in grades K-12 with an English language proficiency (ELP) level of 1-5 and 9.

Parent Technology Help Desk

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, Fairfax County Public Schools now has a Parent Technology Help Desk. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. If the help desk is unable to solve the issue on the phone with the parent or guardian, they will enter a ticket on the parent’s behalf and the request for help will be transferred to the appropriate FCPS team.

No-Cost Meals for All FCPS Students through June 30, 2021

Grab and Go meal sites are open 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Meal Kits sites distribute each Wednesday from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., or until supplies are exhausted. Buses distributing meals are operating Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be available at no-cost Monday-Friday at all schools with in-person instruction. Specific information about meal distribution locations and bus distribution schedules are available.
